I received Simon Says Stamp (SSS) November card kit “Thanks and Leaves” late last week and had the chance to play with it just a little. I think my most favorite part of the kit are the Tim Holts “Small Talk/Snarky” sentiment stickers. Some include: Is your drama going to have an intermission today: Surround yourself with tacos, not negativity: Cleaning with children in the house is like brushing your teeth while eating Oreos. I didn’t use any of these on my card today, but I did use one on a quick wine tag I made, which is in my Instagram feed.
Today, I am sharing this card:
I started with an A2 size of Canson XL watercolor paper. I taped off equal sections using blue painters tape. I then used Distress Oxide in: Seedless Preserves, Frayed Burlap and Peeled Paint (with water added) to watercolor the middle section. I made sure to blend them into each other to get those other fun colors. After everything was dry, I stamped the sentiment in SSS Clear Embossing Ink and used Hero Arts Gold embossing powder and heat set.
I stamped various leaves in the same Distress Oxide colors, added clear embossing powder and heat set. I also used the Hero Arts Gold embossing powder for some of the other leaves. I fussy cut all of the images and adhered them to the panel using SSS Tacky Glue or foam tape. Using some twine, I wrapped it around the card 3 times and just held it in place on the back with some scotch tape. I found some beautiful purple cardstock in my stash and added the smaller sentiment in gold. I added some foam tape to the top and bottom (leaving room in the middle for the twine to go through so everything was even). I added the gorgeous sequins from the kit for a finishing touch. I did add some purple fun foam to the back and adhered the whole panel to an A2 sized white card base.
I really love the sentiments on this card. There have been many times where I have been so far away from my family, that my friends were and are my family…. especially during the holidays.
Tomorrow, I will be posting a card with one of the 23 background panels (you can see them in my Instagram feed) I made the other day with scraps. So, I will talk about that and show you a card featuring a stamp from Concord & 9th. Have a great day!
