This is one of my favorite techniques for a card. It gives so much texture to the background with fairly little effort.
I started by cutting 1/4 inch strips of red cardstock. I then did a “basket weave” to make a 4 1/2 by 5 1/2 inch panel. The basket weave panel was adhered to a light weight cardstock. This just ensures that it stays together and is more sturdy. I added this to a white A2 card base. I used the Concord & 9th dies to cut the sentiment out of white cardstock and also silver glitter cardstock.
I cut the remaining elements out of green and brown cardstocks. I used Iced Spruce ink on the boughs to achieve that chalky/pine look. I used a white gel pen to add some details to the pinecone and pine elements. A few red jewels added just a little bit of glitz to this card.
This card is relatively easy to mass produce. The longest part would just be the basket weaving technique. I hope this inspired you to try something new for your cards!
