Simon Says Stamp February Card Kit Inspiration

Hi everyone! I back with some inspiration from the new Simon Says Stamp (SSS) February card kit. This kit is fantastic! I really love all of SSS card kits. They are a great value for everything that you get inside. My mindset behind this card was to make it a bit masculine or “grungy”….and I love how it turned out!

To start this card, I took one of the pre-scored black card bases included in the kit and used my anti-static powder (aka baby powder) to cover the front panel. I then used the “Rose Lattice Background” in my stamp platform and heat embossed using SSS clear ink and SSS clear embossing powder.

I stamped the heart/flower image from “Love Always” using clear ink onto some dark grey cardstock. I used my Prismacolor pencils to color the image. I then realigned the stamp and heat embossed the image using clear embossing powder. I did this to get a little more shine on the heart element to tie in from the background. I cut 2 strips from the included papers and distressed the edges. I did this first with the black and white by adding some water to the edges and distressing with my finger nail. For the smaller heart paper, I tore the end and used Black Soot Distress Ink. I stamped the sentiment onto the strip with black pigment ink and heat embossed for a little shine. I adhered very thin black foam tape, from my stash, behind all of the elements and adhered them to the card base.

I’ve included a picture of the finished inside of my card. I had a little poll going on my Instagram page and everyone said they wanted to see the inside to cards… so here it is!

I cut a white panel of cardstock to 5 by 4 3/4 inches. I did not want a stark white inside to this “grungy” card but I still wanted to be able to write a personal note so, I distressed the cardstock using Black Soot Distress Ink again. I then stamped all the inside images with SSS Intense Black Ink. The panel was then adhered to the inside with liquid glue.

I’m really excited for this vintage themed card kit. I know I am going to have so much fun working with it. If you aren’t a subscriber you can still get one here (at the time of publication). You can also buy individual elements of this kit. If you click on any of the card kits (even if they are sold out), there will be links to the individual products included in the kit.

Have a great day my crafty friends!
