I guess all the encouragement for my crafty “mojo” to come back home worked! I’m back today with this fun anniversary celebration card featuring Honey Bee Stamps, Simon Says Stamp (SSS) and My Favorite Things (MFT). I made this card for a local store that my husband and I frequent. The owners are just fantastic people and I wanted to help them celebrate the 13th anniversary of their store!
I first took a 4 1/4 by 5 1/2 inch panel of Bristol Smooth cardstock and ink blended Distress Oxide in Faded Jeans onto the panel in a ombre technique. I then added splatters of water to get the oxidized effect. When the panel was dry, I die cut using a stitched rectangle. I then die cut the box, balloons and streamer elements from Honey Bee Stamps “Celebration Box” dies from scrap papers I had in my stash.
I added shading to the cut elements using Chameleon markers. These are not usually my “go to” marker but they actually worked very well for this project. I die cut the “congrats” die 5 times from heavy weight white cardstock and adhered 4 layers together using liquid glue. The 5th die cut, I colored in rainbow order using the Chameleon markers and adhered to the stacked sentiment. For some added sparkle, I used a Shimmer pen for the balloons and “congrats” sentiment. I also used the “Birthday Numbers” set from SSS by using Versamark ink, Sterling embossing powder, and heat set. I fussy cut the numbers out and added a little shading with a gray Zig Clean color marker.
Now for the fun part… adding all of these elements to the card! The ink blended panel was first added to an A2 size heavy weight card base. This really helped me to ensure I got my spacing correctly. I glued small pieces of acetate packaging to the numbers and adhered them to the inside of the box. I wanted to make sure they looked like they were popping out. I added twine to all of the balloons and adhered the balloons to the inked panel with either liquid glue or foam tape. I gathered the strings and taped them together. I added a bit more dimension behind my box by cutting some brown fun foam and adhering it to the back. There is a slit for the box that I fed the strings through and adhered the box onto the base. The “congrats” sentiment was added with liquid glue and a small amount of clear “foam” tape behind the c and s. I added the streamers and “confetti” sequins in rainbow order…of course. As a last touch, I used a white gel pen for some interest.
I finished the inside of this card with a sentiment and balloons from SSS “Birthday Numbers” and confetti from Honey Bee “Celebration Box” stamps with various colors of Distress Oxide inks.
Thanks for joining me today! I hope you enjoyed this bright and fun card!
