Child, concord & 9th, Die cuts, Simon Says Stamp, Technique, Thinking of you

Hello, Friend-A Brochure Style Card

Like most everyone else… I love to watch Jennifer McGuire videos. I mean she just has so many ideas that it is hard to not want to be like her! Seriously… so this is my best Jennifer McGuire inspired card from one of her most recent videos which you can see HERE. My card for you today isn’t “mirror die cutting”. I took the easy way out and cut the rainbow in half but hey…it still looks pretty cool, right? By the way, this was not the easiest card to photograph. I apologize it isn’t fantastically done but I hope it still inspires you!

I’m going to start with the card laid out in full because I think it will be easier to explain the process this way.

I started by cutting 2 4 1/4 by 5 1/5 inch (A2) sized cards that were side folding. The back and middle card base will open regularly like a book. The first panel and middle will open backwards. This results in the middle panel being a double layer that will be glued together (I adhered the panels closer to the end so it would be easier to assemble).

I die cut white cardstock with the Concord & 9th (C9) Rainbow wishes dies. I then kept all the pieces together to stamp the rainbow. I did it this way so I would be sure the stamped colors would line up correctly with the die cuts. The inks I used were: Simon Says Stamp (SSS) Watermelon, Melon, Lemon Zing, Key Lime, and Wisteria. I used Hero Arts (HA) Summer Sky for the blue in the rainbow. I added a little detail to the rainbows with Brutus Monroe (BM) Detail Ink.

For the cloud background, I ink blended Distress Oxide in Tumbled Glass using the My Favorite Things (MFT) Cloud Stencil. I also ink blended the sun in Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide using the Radiating Rays Stencil by MFT.

I stamped the sentiment inside using BM Detail Black Ink and used Candied Apple Distress Oxide for the hearts. Extra clouds and hearts were cut from scrap cardstock to complete the scene.

The sentiment for the front of the card is from C9 and stamped in Salty Ocean Distress Oxide. Unfortunately, the stamp set is no longer available but the dies are! I used these dies to get the etched look around the sentiment. For and added touch, I used a shimmer pen on the heart accents. All my elements were adhered with SSS Tacky Glue.

I hope you all enjoyed this card today. I had so much fun making it! It really came together quite quickly and I think that you could mass produce it fairly easily. Thank you for stopping by today! Have a great day!
