A Blog Named Hero June Challenge

Welcome everyone to the June challenge…Monochrome!

Monochrome is defined as: a photograph or picture developed or executed in black and white or in varying tones of only one color. This challenge really got me thinking and trying to stretch my creativity! I hope you enjoy my monochromatic card today!

Starting with an A2 (4 1/4 by 5 1/2 inch) panel of Sand cardstock, I started to blend from the bottom to about half way up using Distress Oxide Frayed Burlap and Antique Linen. This gave me that wet/sand/beach type of look. I added embossing ink  and Sand Embossing Powder. Before heat setting, I took a dry brush to shape my sand border.

Using the Seashells Fancy Dies, I cut one of each out of white cardstock. Each shell was colored with Copic markers in E51, E31, and a Spectrum Noir marker in EB2 (Natural Brown). To add depth and dimension, I used a Dark Brown Prismacolor pencil. Getting all of those nooks and crannies really makes a big difference! I attached these shells at a slight angle following the beach line. A few shells in the front were adhered with foam tape for that added bit of dimension.

I stamped the “Stay Salty” sentiment using the same Frayed Burlap Distress Oxide Ink and added a final touch of gold spatter using Perfect Pearls. The finished panel was adhered to a heavy weight card base.

Thank you for joining the June challenge and I can’t wait to see everyone’s entries. Don’t forget…you can win one of two prizes just for entering!

Stay crafty my friends!
