Hello everyone. Thanks for visiting me today. I have this gorgeous vintage style card from Hero Arts newest release called “Christmas Tree Pieces Fancy Die”. I love all of Hero Arts fancy dies… they are just so good! Included on my card today, I used a partial die cutting technique that makes the opening on this card fun.
I first started with a 4 1/4 by 5 1/2 inch side fold card base. On the front, I marked and drew a line half way (2 1/8 inches). I aligned the tree to be straight down the middle and partially die cut the right half. I then cut above and below the tree to detach the piece. The card now opens at the tree. Next, I used a small “branch” stamp from a previous My Monthly Hero set to stamp a red panel with embossing ink. Once dry, the red panel was ink blended with Root Beer ink for a vintage look, gold heat embossed with the “Good Tidings” sentiment and cut down the middle.
The red panel was adhered to the front (left of the tree) and the right (which is technically the inside of the card). For fun, I added a strip of double sided tape and used gold foil right down the middle. I think this helps with where the recipient should open the card. The tree was cut from white cardstock and ink blended with Green Apple, Green Hills, Field Greens and a small amount of Root Beer ink. I cut the tree trimmings from red, white (colored blue) and gold heat embossed white cardstock. The angel was cut from glitter cardstock and the tiny little star colored with a yellow copic marker. The tree base (present) was cut from white cardstock and copic colored to match the ornaments. I did add some lacquer to the red ornaments and some gel pen detail to the blue ornaments and present.
All elements were adhered to the card with liquid glue (lining up the tree with the partial die cut).
