Our February My Monthly Hero release was inspired by the art of the Surrealist masters and the magical imagery of dreams. Let your imagination soar with the playful drawings as you arrange your own creative scenes. There are nine different messages to include on your card or project, and the kit is rounded out with black watercolor paper, a water brush, and a custom Daniel Smith watercolor paint palette.

My card inspiration for you today is all about perspective and how just because you may look at things differently from others doesn’t mean that it is wrong. There will always be alternate views of the same thing. I am getting too philosophical for card making. Let’s get to the details!

I stamped the window and 2 of the moon images onto my favorite Copic paper. I used Y11, Y15, W5, W3, W1, B39, B37, and B34 to color and cut using the coordinating dies. I added some “stars” with a white gel pen just for some extra detail.

I cut a panel of white cardstock to 4 by 5 1/4 inches. I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment and stars using Platinum embossing powder. Clouds were cut from white cardstock using the “Cloudy Sky Scene” die set. You could easily free hand the clouds if you don’t have the dies. Contour and Blue Hawaii ink were blended onto the edges and adhered onto the panel.

I then adhered my stamped and colored elements with extra white scraps or foam tape. Sometimes I use scraps because it doesn’t give as much as dimension as foam. Plus I get to use up little pieces without wasting them.

The cloud panel was adhered to Nautical cardstock measuring 4 1/4 by 5 1/2 inches. This was then added to a white side folding card base.

  1. SO CLEVER how you used the same stamp twice — upside-down and right-side-up (of course, a Surrealist might argue that there is no “upside down” LOL). Your card is provocative, beautiful and vibrant!! I love it! TFS –

  2. A wonderful card. I love the way you used the clouds die cuts with a little soft colouring around the top. Thanks so much for the great inspiration. Take Care! 🙂
