Hello everyone and Happy New Year! I apologize for not posting for a bit. I decided to take a nice break to enjoy the holidays and spend time with my family.
I am back today for the super fun My Monthly Hero kit for Jan 2023. This kit and the add-ons in the release are amazing for love and/or Valentines cards. Let’s take a look at the kit and then I have a few cards for inspiration.
Kit Contents: | • Clear Stamp Set, 6″ x 8″ |
• 18 Fancy Dies | |
• 2 Frame Cuts | |
• Heart-Shaped Daisies Stencil, 6″ x 6″
• 3 Sheets of Kraft Cardstock, 5.5″ x 8.5″
• 1 Sheet each of Azalea and Peony Cardstock, 5.5″ x 8.5″
• Love Mix Sequins |
With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, the January My Monthly Hero kit celebrates the “perfect match”. The centerpiece of this kit is dies to create a faux matchbox, which lies flat on your card or project and can be decorated and filled with the numerous stamps and dies included in the kit. But don’t stop there, let your imagination go wild with all of the possibilities this kit contains! Use the images on their own, build repeating patterns, or add them to planner pages, journals, and more! There is a beautiful stencil included, perfect for backgrounds or mixed media projects. The kit is rounded out with a pack of fun heart-themed sequins and five sheets of gorgeous cardstock.
Kit Value: $77 |
Kit Cost: $34.99 |
For my first card, I went wild with the dies. I created multiple “stamps” to make a background/card front.
- Die cut all images from white cardstock.
- Color all images with Copic markers or your favorite coloring medium and add white highlights.
- Adhere images to “stamps”.
- Add “cents” and stamped sentiment with black marker/ink.
- Apply to a card front measuring 4 by 5 1/4 inches. Cut any extra off.
- Apply finished panel to a gray card base.
Supply List:
- My Monthly Hero Jan 2023
- Copic Markers or other coloring medium
- Dove White Cardstock
- Pebble Cardstock
- Peony Cardstock
- White Gel Pen
- Black Fine Tip Marker
- Intensified Black Ink
My next card, as inspiration for you, uses the Heart Daisies Stencil included in the kit. When I first started making this, I wasn’t sure how I liked it. I don’t know about you but this happens to me All. The. Time. If this happens to you, I encourage you to persevere. I did by adding other elements in the same colors/color scheme to pull it all together and it came out really cute!
- Cut a panel of red cardstock. Apply white pigment ink through the stencil onto the panel.
- After the pigment ink is dry, reapply the stencil off set and blend ink through the stencil. This gives a great highlight or glowing look.
- Trim panel to 4 by 5 1/4 inches. Set aside.
- Cut a white panel of cardstock to 2 3/4 by 3 1/2 inches.
- Stamp the sentiment with black pigment ink and heat set with clear embossing powder.
- Die cut matches and flame from white cardstock.
- Color matches using Copic markers (stick) and ink (flame; the same ink from the stencil was used).
- Add glitter lacquer to tips for texture and shine. Let dry.
- Adhere matches to the bottom of the white panel. Cut excess off.
- Add the white panel to the stenciled background.
- Finish the card by adding it to a white card base.
Supply List:
- My Monthly Hero Jan 2023
- Cranberry Cardstock
- Dove White Cardstock
- White Pigment Ink
- Black Pigment Ink
- Clear Embossing Powder
- Copic Markers
- Raspberry Jam Ink
