I don’t know about you, but I am ready for summer to be here! Time gets a little slower for my family and we spend a lot of time at the beach. This month’s My Monthly Hero really helps you get into that summer/beachy mood. You definitely don’t not want to wait this one out. I have a feeling it will sell out pretty fast. Let’s take a look at the classic and Premium kits side by side!
Our June release features a Color Layering stamp set that captures the magical play of light on the ocean at sunset. The Classic Kit includes a 6″ x 8″ stamp set featuring this HeroScape scene, including images to add embellishments, such a dock, a lighthouse and sea birds. There are coordinating dies, as well as a beautiful oval window die to set the beach scene. The Classic Kit is rounded out with four ink cubes in perfect sunset colors, and six sheets of watercolor paper.
Our June release features a Color Layering stamp set that captures the magical play of light on the ocean at sunset. This Premium Kit includes a 6″ x 8″ stamp set featuring this HeroScape scene, including images to add embellishments, such a dock, a lighthouse and sea birds. There are coordinating dies, as well as a beautiful oval window die to set the beach scene. The list of items also available in the Classic Kit is rounded out with four ink cubes in perfect sunset colors, and six sheets of watercolor paper. The highlight of our upgraded Premium kit items is a fun three-piece stencil set for creating a seashell background. Or cut out the stenciled shells as individual project elements! There are embellishments galore, including both custom sequins and enamel stickers. The Premium Kit is capped off with a tub of a gorgeous, brand new iridescent embossing powder. Try this powder on both light and dark cardstocks for varying results!
I think one of my favorite items from this month is the layering shell stencils from the Premium kit… I can’t wait to create more with them! So today, I will be starting with my Premium kit card inspiration.
- Cut a 4 1/4 by 5 1/2 inch panel of sand cardstock. Blend brown ink through the largest opening stencil.
- Using the second layer, add white pigment ink through the stencil. Let air dry or use a heat gun to ensure the ink is dry.
- Using the final layer, apply glitter paste (or make your own like I did) to add a little dimension and sparkle!
- Trim panel to 4 by 5 1/4 inches. Distress the edge and add a small tear to the side.
- Wrap thread around the panel a few times and secure with adhesive on the back.
- Adhere the panel to an A2 side folding sand card base.
- Stamp with black ink and die cut the sentiment. Add the sentiment over the thread.
This card came together so quickly and would be easy to mass produce. There are so many ideas: bright colors, rainbow, stenciled on dark cardstock… the options are endless!
Supply List:
- MMH Premium June 2023
- Cup O’Joe Ink
- Unicorn White Pigment Ink
- Intensified Black Ink
- Glitter Paste
- Sand Cardstock
- Thread (I chose a shiny metallic thread to match the glitter)
Now I can’t forget to show you a little something from the Classic Kit! I had a lot of fun with a silhouette look with just a splash (you see what I did there?) of color.
- Cut a panel of black cardstock to 4 by 5 1/4 inches.
- Die cut the oval window die and cut everything except the palm trees off.
- Die cut just the palms with some scrap black cardstock and adhere offset and with foam tape for added dimension.
- Stamp and white heat emboss the “hello friend” sentiment in the bottom corner.
- On a panel of white cardstock, stamp the ocean layers with your favorite colors. Use some yellow or oranges for the sunset reflection.
- Stamp the setting sun on the horizon and ink blend yellow and blue for the sky.
- Stamp the clouds with a light blue ink and the birds flying in black.
- Adhere the black panel to the white stamped panel and cut off any extra.
- The finished panel was added to a white side-folding card base.
