Holiday, Simon Says Stamp, Technique, Thinking of you, Valentine's Day

#TBT-With Simon Says Stamp

Hey everyone! Happy Valentine’s Day! I hope your having a good one! Well since today is Thursday and Valentine’s day, I decided to do a little “Throw-Back” card. I am using the  Simon Says Stamp (SSS) “Really Like You”. It was in a card kit last year but you can still get the set.

Photo_1550178901690I first cut a 4 1/4 by 11 inch piece of heavy weight white cardstock and scored at 5 1/2 to make a top folding card base. I used a sponge to blend Distress Ink in Picked Raspberry and Spun Sugar for an ombre technique on the front of the card. I added spatters of water to the background and let dry.

Photo_1550178898748I cut the box out of brown scrap paper from my stash with the Honey Bee Stamps “Celebration Box” die. I added some shading to the box with a brown Chameleon marker. I attached the sides to the box with black foam tape and also added some to the back of the box. This gives it just a little dimension without being too much. I attached the box to the card and cut anything that hung over the sides of the base.

I bought the hearts at the dollar store and thought it would be really fun to put them on a card. They are thin fun foam with sparkle… I couldn’t resist! I simply used liquid glue to attach them so they appeared to be falling out of the box. The inspiration for this lay out came from the Honey Bee Stamps website from one of their designers and I just thought it was adorable. I used Studio Katia “Cupid’s Kiss” crystals for some “confetti”. I stamped the sentiment in my most favorite black ink.

I really like the look of a matching envelope and a finished inside so, I stamped coordinating sentiments from the SSS set again with black ink. I also added the stitched heart with Distress Ink in Picked Raspberry.

I love bringing out older sets that I may have forgotten about. It is so easy to get caught up with all the awesome sets that most companies put out every month.

Have a great day everyone!
