Hero Arts My Monthly Hero March 2022 Blog Hop And Giveaway

Welcome everyone! I’m sorry that it has been a while since I have posted… sometimes life just gets in the way of crafting time. But here we are at another fabulous release from Hero Arts! This kit is really so much fun! I have 2 cards for you today that show some of the amazing looks you can get. Let’s check it out!

Take a trip to the art museum with the March My Monthly Hero release. The main kit features Abstract Expressionist art in the form of paint splatters. Stamp them with your favorite inks, or to mimic the bold look of acrylic paint, emboss them with the four vibrant embossing powders included in this kit. We’ve also included paper with the feel of canvas for creating your masterpieces, and the kit is rounded out with a fantastic cover plate die of the art museum patrons gazing at your work of art. Just imagine all the things you can frame with this die!
• 4″ x 6″ Clear Stamp Set
• Fancy Window Die
• 4 Embossing Powders in Goldenrod, Orange, Blue, Purple (1/4 oz. each)
• Clear Embossing & Watermark Ink Cube
• 2 Sheets Extra Thick Canvas Paper (4.25″ x 5.5″)
• 1 Sheet Canvas-textured Paper (5.5″ x 8.5″)
Kit Value: $70
Kit Cost: $34.99

Pre-order your kit today – we estimate kit shipping will begin Friday, March 11th and continue throughout the following week.

Ok, now the fun part. My inspiration for you today!

I used the cover die to cut a white front panel. This dies comes in 2 parts, so I was able to take the inside piece and cut just the frame from black cardstock. I did have to cut around the people but it was very easy. I stamped my sentiment on a small piece of cardstock with embossing ink and heat set using Platinum embossing powder. I then matted the sentiment with some black cardstock.

Ink Smooshed background. Add inks onto a smooth surface like glass and add some water. Press the paper into the ink on different areas.

For the “art work”, I used a piece from my scrap drawer. You can do this same technique with Hero Arts Reactive Inks. I used Pool Party, Purple Galaxy and Berry Smoothie and “ink smooshed” them onto some alcohol ink cardstock or Yupo paper. I prefer the cardstock because it makes it less likely to warp if you add heat/embossing. You can choose to add a sealer like Distress Glaze but I don’t feel its totally needed. It does brighten the color a bit and if you don’t put it on…the color rubs off very slightly. I stamped the piece with the splatters using pigment ink and embossing ink, then heat set using clear and Platinum embossing powders.

You can easily switch up the colors with those included in the kit!

I added foam tape to the back of the panel and then added the “artwork”. I wanted it to be set back from the frame. The panel was added to an A2 white card base and the sentiment was adhered with liquid glue.

I have one other very simple card just using the spatters. I think it would make for a great masculine card and it would be very easy to mass produce.

I started with a white panel and heat embossed the sentiment using black pigment ink and clear embossing powder. I stamped over the sentiment using Pool Party. I gradually moved towards the corners using each splatter stamp, Blue Raspberry, and Intensified Black ink. The panel was cut down to 4 by 5 1/4 inches and adhered to a black top folding A2 card. I did adhere a smaller white panel inside for a personal message.

Here is a close up look. Can you find my mistake?! Luckily with these spatters, its harder to tell and just blends in.

  1. Love your cards. Love the black frame coordinates well with the splatter colors. Can’t wait for the kit. Thanks for sharing.

  2. Beautiful! And I had to hunt for the mistake after you mentioned it – never would have noticed it otherwise as you are right – the spatter makes everything look intentional.
