Ok, now the fun part. My inspiration for you today!
I used the cover die to cut a white front panel. This dies comes in 2 parts, so I was able to take the inside piece and cut just the frame from black cardstock. I did have to cut around the people but it was very easy. I stamped my sentiment on a small piece of cardstock with embossing ink and heat set using Platinum embossing powder. I then matted the sentiment with some black cardstock.
For the “art work”, I used a piece from my scrap drawer. You can do this same technique with Hero Arts Reactive Inks. I used Pool Party, Purple Galaxy and Berry Smoothie and “ink smooshed” them onto some alcohol ink cardstock or Yupo paper. I prefer the cardstock because it makes it less likely to warp if you add heat/embossing. You can choose to add a sealer like Distress Glaze but I don’t feel its totally needed. It does brighten the color a bit and if you don’t put it on…the color rubs off very slightly. I stamped the piece with the splatters using pigment ink and embossing ink, then heat set using clear and Platinum embossing powders.
I added foam tape to the back of the panel and then added the “artwork”. I wanted it to be set back from the frame. The panel was added to an A2 white card base and the sentiment was adhered with liquid glue.
Supply List:
- Hero Arts My Monthly Hero Kit March 2022
- Dove White and Pitch Black Cardstock
- Hero Hues: Pool Party, Purple Galaxy, and Berry Smoothie
- Alcohol Ink Cardstock or Yupo Paper (you could also use regular cardstock or watercolor paper. It would just have a different look but still equally as fun)
- Platinum and Clear Embossing Powder
- Black Pigment Ink
- Embossing Ink
I have one other very simple card just using the spatters. I think it would make for a great masculine card and it would be very easy to mass produce.
I started with a white panel and heat embossed the sentiment using black pigment ink and clear embossing powder. I stamped over the sentiment using Pool Party. I gradually moved towards the corners using each splatter stamp, Blue Raspberry, and Intensified Black ink. The panel was cut down to 4 by 5 1/4 inches and adhered to a black top folding A2 card. I did adhere a smaller white panel inside for a personal message.
Here is a close up look. Can you find my mistake?! Luckily with these spatters, its harder to tell and just blends in.

Beautiful! And I had to hunt for the mistake after you mentioned it – never would have noticed it otherwise as you are right – the spatter makes everything look intentional.
